UWRTI Laboratory & Administration Block – Katwe

Project Overview

Consultancy services for the design and construction supervision of facilities at the Uganda Wildlife Training Institute (UWRTI) in Katwe, Kasese District, Uganda, for the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. The project involved the design and supervision of works comprising a laboratory, classrooms, administration block with conference facilities, sanitary facilities, and a perimeter wall, including integration of ICT solutions to support research connectivity and collaboration with international institutions. The project was implemented under the World Bank-funded Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project (CEDP) and reached practical completion in September 2024.

Scope of Work

Provide technical design services, preparation of specifications, tender and contract documents, cost estimates and project timelines, and supervision and management of construction works for the UWRTI facilities.

• Prepare technical designs and project specifications.
• Develop tender and contract documentation for the works.
• Generate project cost estimates and construction timelines.
• Coordinate implementation of architectural, civil/structural, and electrical/ICT engineering components.
• Supervise and manage construction works for the project facilities.
• Ensure integration of energy-efficient ICT solutions for research connectivity.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, social, and economic safeguard requirements.
